The Pirates’ 5-foot-10 forward scored 55 points to lead her team to two victories in the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs last week. Porter scored 25 points and grabbed 20 rebounds as Paramount won a qualifying round game over Palm Springs, 59-51. She scored 30 points in a 60-57 victory over Alhambra in a first-round game. Porter has a season average of 21 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Other top performers:
* Janet Davis, a senior center for Lynwood High, scored a game-high 16 points and blocked five shots in leading the top-seeded Knights to an easy 64-28 win over Fountain Valley in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA basketball playoffs.
* Allison Arredondo, a senior center for Gahr High of Cerritos, led her basketball team to an easy CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoff win. Arredondo scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Gladiators defeated Norte Vista, 97-28.
