Dave McLlwain picked a great time to score his first goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It came at 5:56 of the third period at Toronto Monday night to lift the Maple Leafs to a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
The win moved Toronto four points behind the idle Minnesota North Stars in their battle for the last playoff berth in the Norris Division.
Boston 7, San Jose 6--Bruin defenseman Don Sweeney scored with 1:03 remaining to cap a four-goal third period at Boston.
Rookie Olympian Joe Juneau had two goals and an assist for Boston and Brian Lawton scored twice for the expansion Sharks.
Andy Moog faced 21 shots in the Bruins’ net and the Sharks had nine more on Reggie Lemelin, who replaced him at 2:54 of the third.
