Claremont : Ring Elected Mayor

Councilwoman Diann Ring was elected mayor Tuesday by other council members to replace Nicholas L. Presecan, who held the title for more than two years.
Councilman Algird G. Leiga was chosen mayor pro tem.
Ring, a public relations and advertising consultant, was elected to the City Council in 1986 and has two years remaining on her term. Presecan will continue to serve on the council.
Also Tuesday, Councilman William McCready, who did not seek reelection, relinquished his seat to new member Suzan Smith, who was elected April 14.
