A Dose of Reality: The Museum of Contemporary Art is seeking volunteers to be part of a new visual art installation by controversial performance artist Karen Finley. “Memento Mori” will be on view at MOCA June 7-Aug. 23 and, in addition to text, paintings and objects, the installation includes two tableaux vivant that employ eight live participants. The abortion rights-themed “The Women’s Room” includes a woman lying on a double bed, while “The Memorial Room,” an expression of grief for AIDS victims, contains bedridden patients and their caring friends. Finley is one of the “NEA Four” artists involved in a lawsuit over a grant denial by the National Endowment for the Arts.
