Court Lets Ruling Stand on Bank Insurance Powers: In a fresh blow to banks, the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington declined to review a three-judge panel’s ruling that national banks have no legal right to sell insurance products. The 11-3 decision can be appealed to the Supreme Court. But the high court has shown little appetite recently for such cases, industry experts said. The decision renews pressure on Congress to resolve the sticky issue of whether to let banks into the insurance business.
