More than 1,600 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers were without electricity for more than three hours Tuesday after a cable failed beneath a Sherman Oaks intersection.
The underground cable, located near the intersection of Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards, went out about 4 p.m. for an unknown reason, DWP spokeswoman Debra Sass said. Electricity was restored to most of the households or businesses by 7 p.m., but about 200 had to wait an additional 45 minutes, DWP spokeswoman Thea Uota said.
