LOS ANGELES : 3rd Beach Reopens; One Remains Closed
- Share via
Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey, closed since Saturday because of high bacteria counts, was reopened Wednesday, but a stretch of coastline in Redondo Beach remains off-limits.
Dockweiler State Beach and Venice Beach, which had also been closed since Saturday due to contamination, were reopened Tuesday.
A three-quarter-mile stretch of the coastline in Redondo Beach, from the pier south to Knob Hill Avenue, remains closed. A leaking sewer pipe, attached to the underside of the pier, prompted the closure Monday morning. The beach will remain closed to swimmers and surfers until tests on water samples show that bacteria counts are safe, health officials said.
