Markowitz Joins Birtcher: Stefan Markowitz, former president of the Orange County division of British home builder Barratt American Inc., has joined big Laguna Niguel developer Birtcher Co. as senior vice president of its home-building subsidiary.
Barratt American, based until recently in Irvine, consolidated and moved its U.S. headquarters to La Jolla.
Birtcher President Michael Voss also holds the post of president of the subsidiary, Birtcher Homes.
Frank J. Scardina, who had been president of the subsidiary, resigned in May after only a year to become a consultant to the company.
Because of the recession, Birtcher Homes has yet to build any houses. Voss said the subsidiary is looking for land to buy and intends to start a project by year’s end.
