Boeing Explores Plane Sales to Iran: With Iran shopping for $3 billion worth of jetliners, Boeing is talking with Iran Air and lobbying the federal government in hopes of getting a share of the purchases. The Seattle-based firm has asked the Commerce Department to lift a ban on the sale to Iran of American planes or planes with many American components. The New York Times reported that state-owned Iran Air has tentatively agreed to buy 16 Boeing 737-400 jets with an option for four more, a deal said to be worth nearly $1 billion if American policy were changed.
