VISTA : Crash Kills Girl, Injures Passenger

A 17-year-old girl was killed and her passenger was seriously injured when their car drove off a freeway Wednesday morning.
Jessica Ditchkus of Escondido was driving west on California 78 at 7:06 a.m. when her vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree near the Valencia Drive overpass, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
A passenger, Daniel Woods, 31, of Escondido, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center by Life Flight helicopter, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday night, a hospital spokesman said.
