Besides losing Polonia for three games, the Angels lost Tim Salmon for the rest of the season after Salmon’s left wrist was placed in a cast. He sprained it Sept. 5 and didn’t hit again for more than two weeks; overall, he batted .177 with two home runs and six runs batted in after being promoted from triple-A Edmonton. “It’s not any worse. They just want to make sure I don’t move the wrist,” Salmon said of the cast.

The Angels extended their working agreement with their Class-A Palm Springs affiliate through 1996. . . . Angel coach John Wathan was told he’s not among the four finalists for the Florida Marlins’ managing job.
