Ornelas Helps Saddleback Get Past Woodbridge

IRVINE — Saddleback’s Adolfo Ornelas rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns in 20 carries, and intercepted a pass with 2 minutes 5 seconds remaining to seal a 24-17 victory over Woodbridge Friday at Irvine High.
Ornelas scored on a four-yard run with 52 seconds remaining in the first quarter to give Saddleback (2-2) a 7-0 lead in its Sea View League opener.
Woodbridge tied the score, 7-7, on a four-yard touchdown run by Gary Young with 10:42 remaining in the second quarter.
The Warriors (1-3, 0-1) scored three minutes later on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Shea Stone to Young and made it 17-7 on a 22-yard field goal by Mike Guymon with 3:12 remaining in the half.
Ornelas scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run with 6:17 remaining in the third quarter to cut the Woodbridge lead to 17-14. Saddleback tied the score, 17-17, on a 31-yard field goal by Sam Perla with 7:23 remaining in the fourth quarter.
After a 19-yard punt by Woodbridge gave Saddleback the ball on the Woodbridge 32 four plays later, Aaron Pulsifer scored the go-ahead touchdown by catching a five-yard touchdown pass from Danny Ruvulo with 3:26 remaining in the game.
