Valley 56, Compton 10--The visiting Monarchs amassed 627 yards of total offense and 29 first downs en route to a convincing victory.
Howard Blackwell gained 112 yards in 15 carries and scored on runs of runs of five, two, one and 34 yards.
Valley (2-0-1, 2-0) passed for 360 yards and three touchdowns as three Monarch quarterbacks completed 19 of 26 passes to nine receivers.
Starter Joe Mauldin threw a 72-yard touchdown pass to Billy Parra in the first quarter and added a 54-yard pass to Brian Bernier one minute into the second half that gave Valley a 40-3 lead. Mauldin, who was six of nine for 177 yards, also scored on a 31-yard run.
Darren Firestone completed five of eight for 85 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown pass to Delvon Hardaway, and Ernie Foli was eight of nine for 98 yards.
Compton (0-3, 0-2) managed only 112 yards in offense.
Monarch defensive end Avo Avetisyan blocked one field-goal attempt and made two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
