EL CAJON : Inmate in Jail Found Hanged

A 20-year-old inmate was found dead in his cell Sunday at County Jail after apparently hanging himself, authorities said.

Stephen Divillow Snarey, a mechanic, was found dead at 4:05 a.m. in the cell he shared with two other inmates. Snarey had been incarcerated in jail pending his sentencing Friday on charges of committing a lewd and lascivious act against a child.

During a 3:15 a.m. security check, Snarey was spotted in his lower bunk. But 50 minutes later, as inmates were preparing for the morning meal, Snarey’s other cellmate reported the hanging.
