Abortion Stand Was Misstated
The Sept. 28 article on the 35th Assembly District race misstated my view on abortion.
I support a woman’s ability to have an abortion within the first three months of pregnancy. The Times’ recent article said that I oppose abortion except in cases where a mother’s life is in danger.
I oppose state funding for abortions except in the cases of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is in danger. My view is that public funding of other abortions is not warranted.
Finally, I believe that laws regarding abortion should be made by legislatures, not by the courts. This is why I believe Roe vs. Wade is inappropriate U. S. constitutional jurisprudence, although I am in broad agreement with its policy outline.
