Decision Postponed on Teledyne Fine: A federal judge postponed until Nov. 9 a decision on whether to allow Teledyne Industries Inc. to pay $17.5 million in fines to settle criminal charges that it made false statements about test results on electronic equipment used by the military. The Los Angeles-based defense contractor has pleaded guilty to 35 counts of making false statements between 1987 and 1990. Federal District Judge Terry Hatter postponed sentencing to allow investigators to complete a pre-sentencing investigation. Thomas L. McDowell, vice president of Teledyne’s relays division in Hawthorne, is charged with two counts of making false statements. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 19.
