TUSTIN : School Is Renamed to Honor Trustee

Sycamore Elementary School has been renamed Barbara Benson Elementary School, in honor of retiring school board member Barbara Benson.
The Tustin Unified School District trustees approved the renaming of the school recently. . Benson, who will retire at the end of this school year, has served Tustin schools for 25 years, including six years as a member of the Tustin Elementary School District Board of Education and 20 years as a member of the Tustin Unified School District Board of Education. She served on both boards during one year.
In 1960, Benson founded the Parents Foreign Language School, a volunteer, nonprofit school for children that employs teachers who are natives of foreign countries.
