Rob Walker, who had been sacked once and thrown only one interception in 2 1/2 games since replacing injured starter Wayne Cook, threw three interceptions and was sacked three times when Arizona defeated UCLA, 23-3, Saturday.
Said UCLA Coach Terry Donahue: “I don’t think Rob Walker needs to shoulder the majority of responsibility for this (loss). Rob Walker is going to be a good quarterback.”
Defensive end Mike Chalenski will undergo surgery after tearing a tendon in his left thumb at Arizona. Donahue said Chalenski will play against Stanford on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl and be operated on Sunday.
