Transient Identified as Suspect in Slaying

SANTA ANA — Homicide investigators on Thursday identified a 32-year-old transient as the suspect they are seeking in the killing of a man last month in Stanton.

Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Filiberto Flores, 32, who allegedly had been drinking and then arguing with Francisco Ramirez, 40, along railroad tracks south of Katella Avenue on Sept. 22.

Ramirez was found dead of a blow to the head the next morning, police said. Ramirez, investigators said, lived in bushes near the railroad tracks where his body was found.

Flores, after the fight with Ramirez, was last seen on foot in the area of Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard, Sheriff’s Department Lt. Dick Olson said.

Flores stands 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, Olson said. He has shoulder-length black hair and black eyes. He has one or more knife scars on the right side of his face, Olson said.

Flores has several aliases, including Filiberto Juarez, Roberto Flores and Jose Louis Guzman, investigators said. Investigators asked anyone with information about Flores to call them at (714) 647-7042 or (714) 647-1850.
