Perot Re-Enters Presidential Race
Perot’s re-entry into the race is unlikely to greatly affect the Electoral College vote on Nov. 3. But he will serve a useful purpose by focusing some attention on our $4-trillion national debt and our continuing huge annual budget deficits. These are issues neither Bush nor Clinton has the political courage to address.
The debt and the deficits will not go away. To pretend to deal with them by proposing tax cuts is demagogic idiocy of the highest order. It should be obvious that some combination of tax increases and spending decreases is inevitable sooner or later.
