MID-CITY : Chief Williams to Attend Reception

The fledgling Wilshire Division Neighborhood Coalition will play host Saturday to a reception for Police Chief Willie L. Williams.
Marie Gaines, president of the Longwood Neighborhood Watch Group, began organizing the reception in July--soon after Williams’ installation--to introduce him to residents of the area. She formed the coalition with several other community groups to put on the reception.
A dozen neighborhood and homeowner organizations, including groups in Koreatown and Baldwin Hills, belong to the coalition and will contribute to the event with dance, music performances and ethnic foods.
Karolynn Hill, another reception organizer, said she expects more than 1,000 to attend the get-together at 1155 S. Longwood Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Williams is expected to attend from noon to 2 p.m.
