Baldwin Park : Metrolink Rail Station
A $1.2-million contract for construction of the Baldwin Park Commuter Rail Station was approved by the City Council on Wednesday.
The station, which will be built by Javaid Contractors Inc. of Rowland Heights, is expected to open in early 1993. It is being funded with state transportation monies. The facility will become part of the Metrolink commuter train service between Pomona and Los Angeles that begins operation Oct. 26.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the station site on Bogart Avenue between Pacific Avenue and Ramona Boulevard. Information on the new station--including a public art project planned for the station, illustrations of the station and train schedules--will be available. And a Metrolink train will be at the site and open for tours.
