ARTESIA — The fans didn’t have to look long to find the player Brethren Christian would count on Saturday night at Artesia High: junior quarterback Reggie Davis.
Davis threw for two touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 24-9 victory over El Cajon Christian.
“I felt pretty good tonight,” Davis said. “I got good blocking from our line, and the rest was easy.”
The first of Davis’ touchdowns came in the second quarter when he hooked up with wide receiver Scott Thomas for 25 yards to give Brethren Christian a 14-0 lead. Senior tailback James Harris had made it 7-0 with a 15-yard run in the first quarter.
Davis threw to Thomas again, for seven yards, in the fourth quarter. He was 13 for 27 for 187 yards, with two interceptions.
“We were definitely ready for these guys tonight,” Davis said.
