A parade honoring Gail Devers, Sweetwater High School graduate and Olympic gold medalist, will wind through the streets of National City Monday.
Beginning at 11 a.m., the parade will travel south on Highland Avenue to 24th Street, where it will continue west to F Avenue and end at the Sweetwater High football field, where a public award ceremony will be held.
Streets will be closed near the parade route, and police suggest that north-south traffic use alternate routes along L and D avenues or National City Boulevard. East- or westbound drivers should use 8th or 30th streets, Plaza Boulevard and Sweetwater Road.
These streets will be closed to traffic between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.: 16th and 18th between G and I avenues; 24th Street between F and I avenues, and F Avenue between 24th and 28th streets.
