Golden West Wins Santa Barbara Title

Tracy Schriber helped the Golden West women’s volleyball team to its third consecutive championship as the Rustlers won the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Sunday at Santa Barbara City College.
Schriber, a sophomore outside hitter from Corona del Mar High, had 13 kills and Heather Flaherty had nine in the Rustlers’ 15-7, 15-10, 15-10 victory over Cuesta in the title match.
Schriber had 10 kills and 15 digs and Becki Gehlke had nine kills and 20 digs as the Rustlers defeated DeAnza, 15-9, 15-7, 15-10, in the winners’ bracket final earlier in the day.
Golden West (11-0), the two-time defending state champion, has won 45 consecutive matches.
Schriber was named MVP of the tournament.
