Ojai’s Weekend Art Tour
Making art is, by definition, a fairly solitary process, the result of hours spent alone in the studio. But this weekend, the public will have a rare opportunity to check in, firsthand, on the creative haunts of artists living in Ojai.
The Ojai Studio Artists Tour takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a $10 fee, visitors can go on a self-guided tour through the Ojai valley and upper Ojai and see for themselves that this celebrated community has attracted a number of professional artists.
A “Meet the Artists” reception will take place at the Ojai Center for the Arts, 113 S. Montgomery St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The affair is sponsored by the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce, and part of the proceeds will go to the fund for the arts in Ojai.
Among the 21 different painters, ceramists, sculptors and print-makers are the famed ceramist Beatrice Wood, potters Vivika and Otto Heino, painters Christine Brennan, Alberta Fins and Nancy Whitman, and watercolorists Gayel Childress and Elaine Rogers.
