Cuccia Scores Twice in Sunny Hills’ Victory Over La Habra

LA HABRA — Jacob Cuccia scored two rushing touchdowns as Sunny Hills blew past La Habra, 27-0, in a Freeway League game Friday.
Cuccia’s three-yard score capped a six-play, 66-yard drive on the game’s opening possession. The senior also scored on a 26-yard end-around with 4 minutes 37 seconds remaining in the game.
Cuccia led all rushers with 77 yards in 12 carries. The Lancers (6-1, 2-0) led, 7-0, at halftime, but quarterback Bobby Sunderland connected with senior Pablo Mercado on a three-yard touchdown pass with 5:53 remaining in the third quarter.
Senior Jeff Willis foiled the Highlanders’ strong defensive stand in the final quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run. Sunderland completed five of 11 passes for 94 yards.
Willis finished with 67 yards in 12 carries. James Tindukassiri scrambled for 54 yards in seven carries.
La Habra was led by junior Josh Woolf, who passed 52 yards, completing nine of 18 attempts.
