St. Monica 21, Verbum Dei 20--Two touchdown receptions by wide receiver Lamont Solomon were not enough to overcome St. Monica’s strong passing attack as Verbum Dei lost a seesaw Camino Real League game.

Both teams entered the game at Dominguez High undefeated in league play. St. Monica scored with 4:30 left on an 86-yard pass from quarterback Oscar Casillas to Steve Pulley. Verbum Dei came back to score with 2:45 left, but St. Monica cornerback Ronald Eadie knocked down the conversion pass.

Solomon had two catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
