Altadena : Shrub Height Law Studied
After failing to agree on how to update a 1963 law limiting the height of front-yard shrubs and fences to 3 1/2 feet, the Town Council last week appointed a committee to recommend guidelines by the end of the year.
The council is trying to loosen the current restriction without sacrificing safety due to reduced visibility. Several motions were made and withdrawn at the council’s meeting Tuesday before council Chairwoman Kathy Klomburg appointed two council members to the committee.
The law had not been enforced until late last year. But when some residents complained about shrubs, violators had to be cited. However, the county put the citations on hold while asking the Town Council to come up with a viable amendment.
