Alpharel Inc. Readies Move to Larger Facility

Alpharel Inc., a Camarillo producer of document-processing software, will move on Nov. 12 from its present location on Calle Tecate to larger quarters on Camino Ruiz in the same city.
The new headquarters, being subleased from Unisys Corp., will provide Alpharel’s engineers and other personnel with badly needed working room, said John W. Low, chief financial officer.
“In 1988, when we moved to Calle Tecate, we were a computer hardware manufacturer,” he said. “Now, we’ve converted to software engineering, which requires more room.”
Low said Alpharel has landed three major contracts in the past two months. The deals call for the company to design software systems for Detroit Edison, Arco Alaska and an engineering construction firm.
Alpharel will occupy 20,000 square feet in its new location, giving it a third more space than it has now. The eight-year sublease is valued at more than $1 million.
Alpharel was represented in negotiating for its new headquarters by TOLD Partners’ Woodland Hills office. Unisys was represented by Daum Commercial Real Estate Service’s Camarillo office.
