COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Soccer Victory Moves Irvine Valley Into First

Sean Houshmand scored three goals to help Irvine Valley to a 3-2 victory over Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match Tuesday at Irvine Valley.
Irvine Valley (10-2-4, 5-1-2 in conference) moved into first place, one point ahead of Riverside. Houshmand scored his second hat trick of the season.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Orange Coast 4, Golden West 1--Gaspar Gutierrez had two goals and P.J. Polowski assisted on each of the four goals for the Pirates (7-5-1, 4-3). Golden West is 5-9-3 and 1-5-2.
Fullerton 4, Cypress 2--After Todd Jackson scored to tie it at 1-1 for Cypress (3-10-1, 0-7-1), Luis Fernandez, Alberto Verduzco, and Jayson Ochs each scored second-half goals for Fullerton (8-4-5, 4-2-2).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Irvine Valley 3, Orange Coast 1--Lynn Roberson scored in the final minute of the match to put it out of reach for Irvine Valley (8-7-1, 5-3). Keri Richardson and Kristen Lowery also scored for Irvine Valley. Orange Coast is 5-6-2 and 3-3-1.
Cypress 6, Palomar 0--Caren Morgan scored twice for host Cypress (11-1, 8-0), ranked third in the state.
Goalkeepers Rachel Bush and Amy Kicyla did not have to make a save in posting their ninth shutout.
