In another Sunset League match:
Servite 17, Huntington Beach 4--Tom Moon had seven goals to lead Servite (4-2 in league) past Huntington Beach (1-5 in league) at Golden West College. Rob Mattivi had three goals for Servite, and Jay Battle led Huntington Beach with three goals.
In the Century League:
Villa Park 14, El Modena 7--Lenny Malo scored seven goals for visiting Villa Park (15-10, 3-1). Scott Mitchell scored three goals for El Modena (13-7, 1-3).
In the Empire League:
Los Alamitos 12, Katella 5--Tyler Ledterman and Paul Caouette each scored three goals for host Los Alamitos (13-10, 3-1). Katella is 8-11, 0-4.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 13, Troy 4--Junior Carlo Franzia scored five goals to help Sunny Hills clinch at least a tie for the Freeway League title, the 23rd consecutive league championship for the Lancers. Seann Schiele added three goals and goalkeeper Mark Magna had 16 saves for Sunny Hills (11-9, 4-0). Troy is 2-2 in league.
In the Orange League:
Valencia 6, Brea-Olinda 4--Bernard Ma, a sophomore holeman, scored four goals for Valencia (12-6, 4-2).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Costa Mesa 20, Century 0--Sam Grayeli scored five goals and goalie Chris Avitia was perfect in the net to lead Costa Mesa (17-8, 4-0). The Mustangs, ranked ninth in the county, clinched at least a tie for the league championship, their seventh in a row.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 24, Saddleback 6--Crosby Grant scored six goals, Neil Hueston added five and Brian Codori had four to lead Corona del Mar (14-6, 6-0), the fourth-ranked team in the county.
Irvine 10, University 1--Peter Zak scored four goals to lead host Irvine (10-14, 3-3).
Newport Harbor 20, Santa Margarita 5--Brett McAllister scored eight goals and his twin brother Brian added five to lead Newport Harbor (16-4, 5-1), the fifth-ranked team in the county.
In Prep League boys’ cross-country:
St. Margaret’s 23, Chadwick 34--Alec Bethurum finished in second place for host St. Margaret’s (3-3), completing the three-mile course in 17:02.
In Prep League girls’ cross-country:
St. Margaret’s 15, Chadwick 50--Kristin Helms won the race in 21:23 for host St. Margaret’s (1-5).
