Stop the Tumbleweeds

It’s very encouraging to read in “Thistle-Down Economics” (Nov. 11) that the county is trying to rid us of the “ubiquitous” tumbleweeds. In this semi-urban part of Thousand Oaks known as Oakbrook, the streets, sidewalks, shopping centers and yards have been covered with the weed balls each fall.
Recently, it was impossible for wheelchair pedestrians to travel on the sidewalk along Erbes Road to our polling place until I cleared off the mounds of tumbleweeds. In addition to ridding their own properties of the weeds, large property owners should pay to clear the public thoroughfares nearby.
