Pacific Hands Cal State Long Beach First Defeat, 68-56

From Associated Press

Chuck Terrell scored 16 points Monday night to lead University of the Pacific to a 68-56 Big West Conference basketball victory over previously undefeated Cal State Long Beach.

The 49ers, 8-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, trailed, 34-28, at halftime, but cut Pacific’s lead to 36-35 on a three-pointer by Rod Hannibal with 16:10 to play.

That was as close as Long Beach would get, however. The Tigers (5-5, 1-1) pushed their lead to 58-48 with 4:52 remaining before the 49ers made their final, futile run.
