2 Escapees From Ojai Facility Recaptured

Two inmates who walked away from the Ojai Honor Farm on Dec. 29 were captured in Las Vegas on Wednesday after police were tipped off by Ventura County sheriff’s investigators, authorities said.

Joe Tony Velasquez, 33, and Frank Caballero, 30, both of Oxnard, were arrested without incident at a Las Vegas residence about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Brian Worthan said.

The pair, both of whom were serving short sentences for being under the influence of drugs, had slipped away from the minimum-security honor farm, officials said.
