Tommy Redux: Actors who starred in the La Jolla Playhouse’s 1992 smash hit, “Tommy,” based on the Who’s rock opera, will re-create their roles in the Broadway production that opens April 22 at the St. James Theatre. Michael Cerveris, in his Broadway debut, plays the title role in a cast that has been expanded from 22 to 28. Also continuing: Jonathan Dokuchitz, Anthony Barrile, Cheryl Freeman, Paul Kandel and Marcia Mitzman. Des McAnuff, artistic director at La Jolla Playhouse, will direct again in New York.
