Secure Footing: American Ballet Theatre dancers have given up 10 paid work weeks this year to stabilize the company’s shaky financial situation, it was announced Thursday. This season will be reduced from 36 weeks to 26, and if necessary, the same could hold true for 1994. The shorter schedule will result in a $2-million savings in the payroll. The dancers will continue to receive supplemental unemployment benefits from the company during the weeks they are not working.
