Japan Bound: “Oh! Calcutta!,” the long-running steamy musical about sexual liberation, will open in Japan in April--minus the full frontal nudity that caused a storm when it was first performed on Broadway in 1969. Japan’s obscenity laws ban the showing of pubic hair, though they place no constraints on graphic scenes of sexual violence. Previous attempts to take “Calcutta!” to Japan failed because of the nude scenes.
