Pop Album Chart : ‘Chronic’ Threat to ‘Bodyguard’?
The album that may bounce “The Bodyguard” soundtrack from No. 1 on the pop album chart could be Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic.” The rapper’s album moved up a notch to No. 3, powered by his fast-rising single “Nuthin but a ‘G’ Thang” (No. 25). Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” tops the pop singles chart for the 12th straight week--one shy of the record set last year by Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road.” Houston has two singles in the Top 10--a remarkable feat. Her “I’m Every Woman,” also from the “Bodyguard” soundtrack, climbed four rungs to No. 10.
* Madonna’s “Erotica” album, though widely perceived as a flop, has actually done quite well. It dropped from No. 27 to No. 36 this week but it has sold more than 2 million units.
