Rebate for Renters
Being a welfare recipient, as of Jan. 1, our welfare checks were reduced by 12%. At the same time our rent was increased by 6%. This is not a complaint as both seem to be in order.
But Wilson asking that renters rebate checks be withheld would seem to be an easy answer to a tough question. Is the cost of liquor so high that it can’t stand a five- or 10-cent raise? I think not! If I happen to receive the rent rebate, I’d probably spend it foolishly, like on a pair of shoes!
