* * Christopher Williams, “Changes,” Uptown/MCA. Through most of this teasingly sexy album, Williams flagrantly rips off Teddy Pendergrass’ classic romantic R&B; from the late ‘70s, occasionally working in some Marvin Gaye licks. But sometimes on these slow, steamy ballads, he slips out of his clone mode and lets originality shine through.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
