Alladin’s Gain

The Regina Belle/Peabo Bryson duet, “A Whole New World,” inched up to No. 3 on The Times’ Southern California pop singles chart and should take over the top spot in the next week or two. It’s one of the big attractions on the steady-selling “Aladdin” soundtrack (No. 5). Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic,” the rap chart leader, is a power in pop circles too. At No. 3 on the pop chart, the album has been getting a strong boost from his single, “Nuthin But a ‘G’ Thang,” which jumped from No. 20 to No. 5 on the pop chart.
