Art For Sale?: Britain’s government is considering selling off its multimillion-dollar art collection, the national Press Assn. reported over the weekend. “Well-placed sources” were quoted as saying that the British Treasury was making inquiries into selling the collection, which includes works by Gainsborough, Sickert, Hockney and others. The pieces now adorn the walls of British embassies around the world. Opposition Labor Party Member of Parliament Bob Cryer said he would fight the sale.
