Coming Back: The Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department has agreed to pay $3,700 to repaint two Echo Park murals it “painted out by mistake” shortly before Christmas. The murals had been funded by another city agency, the Cultural Affairs Department, but were whitewashed after residents and City Council staff members reportedly complained about them. Now, the two departments plan to set up a program where new murals will be painted on the walls each year.
