Bill Honig’s Conviction

Regarding your Jan. 30-31 articles: Pardon me, but just who are Honig’s defenders trying to kid? Instead of asking teachers, aides and parents for their assessment of Honig’s practices, reporters rush to administrators, including one whose own bureaucracy has been cited for waste and mismanagement.
Any high school teacher can report that Honig’s shortsighted “educational reform movement” resulted in more and more vocational offerings being eliminated in favor of college prep course work for clearly non-college-bound youth. It’s been disastrous for this “forgotten half” of the student population. Isn’t it time to incorporate the European model?
