LOS ANGELES : Doctor Shot at County-USC Goes Home From Hospital

One of the three doctors wounded in Monday’s shooting at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center went home Friday.
Dr. Glenn Rogers left the hospital in a wheelchair with 9-week-old son Valle on his lap. He told reporters he felt tired, but hoped to be back on the job in about three weeks.
Police have charged Damacio Ybarra Torres, 40, a Skid Row hotel resident, with shooting Rogers, 45, in the chest. The bullet shattered before reaching Rogers’ heart, but did not sever any major blood vessels.
With a crowd of television cameras pointed at him, Rogers added that he hopes Americans understand that “most of the proposals for health care reform won’t help people in emergency rooms.”
