Playboy’s Christie Hefner and city Treasurer Joan Seidel have been named as honorees by the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Hefner, who is chairwoman and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises, will be presented with the Will Rogers Memorial Award. The award is presented annually to an individual who has played an important role in perpetuating Beverly Hills as an entertainment capital. Winners have included Milton Berle, Kirk Douglas, Merv Griffin and Ella Fitzgerald.
Last year, Hefner moved most of Playboy’s West Coast operations to new offices on Beverly Boulevard from offices it had occupied on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood for more than 25 years.
Seidel, who was elected city treasurer last year, has been nominated to receive the Citizen of the Year award. The award is presented to an individual who has contributed significantly to the city. Seidel, who has lived in Beverly Hills since 1957, will be honored for her years of community involvement and philanthropic work. The awards will be presented May 1 at the 40th annual Beverly Hills Ball sponsored by the chamber at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
