The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges has renewed the accreditation of Antelope Valley College until the 1998-99 academic year.
In a 22-page report, a committee that evaluated the college during a visit to the campus in October praised college President Allan Kurki and college trustees for their leadership in instructional and facilities development. The report also commended college employees for their dedication to serving students.
However, the committee concluded that the college should examine new approaches for registering students and providing financial aid and identified several other areas in which members felt the college could be improved.
“I’m very pleased with the report,” Kurki said. “All of the recommendations they have seem very reasonable.”
The committee directed college officials to submit a routine report to indicate progress on identified concerns by November, 1995.
