Authorities Mum on Details of Slaying

PLACENTIA — Police said Sunday that a man was killed in the city on Saturday night, but they declined to provide any further information about the death.
One officer said he believed the death occurred during a bar fight in the Santa Fe section of town. A police watch commander said details of the case would be released today when homicide investigators prepare a report.
Placentia police officers said they had information about the case but were not authorized to release it. Police Chief Manuel Ortega could not be reached for comment.
Placentia Mayor Maria Moreno told The Times that she had heard about the slaying but did not know any details. The Orange County coroner’s office confirmed the homicide but declined to provide additional information about the death.
