The NHL Players Assn., founded and led for 24 years by Alan Eagleson, loaned more than $1.17 million to companies in which Eagleson’s friends had an interest. According to an investigation by The Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune, the loans were repaid in full and the union made a profit, but that each loan had a history of trouble.
